It is a pleasure to be a student

I am a student.
I have been a student as long as I remember.
And it is a pleasure to be a student.
It is a pleasure to learn that I don't know.
It is a pleasure to learn that I already know.
It is a pleasure to learn that I was mistaken.

It is a joy to learn from Great Masters.
It is a joy to learn by sharing what I learnt.
It is a joy to learn how to be what I am.

I seek to learn about the world around me.
I seek to learn how to be a proper human being.

Clouds show me the nature of my world.
Rivers show me the nature of my myself.
Babies show me how to be more human.

I am a student.
I will be a student as long as I live.
And it is a pleasure to be a student.

The Big No by Chogyam Trungpa

The antidote to a setting-sun mentality is to be free from deception. In connection with that, I'd like to tell you about the Big No, which is different than just saying no to our little habits, such as scratching yourself like a dog. When human beings scratch themselves, we try to do it in a slightly more sophisticated way, but we're still scratching. The ordinary Shambhala type of no applies to things like scratching—or not scratching—yourself

Harsh Beauty

Harsh Beauty

Existing as they have for centuries, the Eunuchs (or Hijra) are considered the third gender, neither men nor women. Harsh Beauty follows over a period of 3 years the lives of Jyothi, Usha and hira bai, three Eunuchs who live openly as women, and want to be accepted as their true selves.

This one hour documentary uses a verite approach, creating intimate and personal accounts of their lives, without presenting an anthropological perspective. Set against th… Continue

Interview: Transman Yvo about his Spiritual Struggle

On June 11 1960 Yvo Manuel Vas Dias was born as a girl. Now, after more than 49 years and numerous hormone treatments and operations, Yvo is a man. Psychologically he had been a man for a lot longer, always actually, but he kept putting off cosmetic changes because Yvo wanted to find peace with his spiritual self first. His Jewish background and interest in religion were in that sense extra challenges, because how could he justify his actions before God? He found answers, and in order to help ot… Continue

Om Mani Padme Hum

H.H. the 14th Dalai Lama's definition on Om Mani Padme Hum

"It is very good to recite the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum, but while you are doing it, you should be thinking on its meaning, for the meaning of the six syllables is great and vast.

The first, Om symbolizes the practitioner's impure body, speech, and mind; it also symbolizes the pure exalted body, speech, and mind of a Buddha. "The path is indicated by the next four syllables.

Mani, meaning jewel, symbolizes t… Continue

I dont think I know what it means to find a teacher? I got used to reading books so much that what I can get from a teacher I could substitute with a book. But that most likely is not true. What do you get from a teacher?
